Recently in AP art we have kind of taken a step back and focused on blind contour. I created many different variations of blind contour of faces, hands, and other objects like shoes and a dog. This helped me to not be so precise, which is something I struggle with in creating artwork. Blind contour is a perfect way to create original art. It also forced me to take risks, I have never created a full piece that is based off of not looking down at my canvas. Although in AP we are not focusing on developing skills, blind contour did help develop skills. Along with the blind contour I created a charcoal self portrait which was really my first time working with charcoal. During this project I had to do a lot of problem solving. I had to erase the charcoal many times to get the right features of my face. I then took that charcoal piece and created a painting in the same black and white style. I feel that this month I have really been focused on creating pieces and sticking with them. I also created the chair piece, which helped me focus on the negative space.
